The war had been over for over 6 years, yet the real battle was beginning.
The battle to create a stable governing body. Tom Garrison had been the head
of Star Fleet for over fifteen years now. Fifteen long years he had been
leading the reminants of StarFleet to achieve a brighter future. A future
that was now here, and as far as he was concerned his job was over. It was
time for a new leadership. Garrison cleared the last of his things off his
desk and carried them the out the doors and into the newly revamped CNC.
An abundance of applause greeted him as he did. The Command staff all
cheered for there leader as he made his way to the TL and down to the deck.
With a long sigh Garrison took one last long look at the command center of
Starbase 001. "I sure am going to miss this place."he said as he took the TL
down to the stations main deck and to the well renound bar and grill the
Double Helix and his Retirement party.

As Tom entered the well lit establishment , he was greeted by the firmilliar
faces of both friends and family. He smiled lovingly at the gathering of
loved ones in his honor and simply waved for everyone to take a seat.
Garrison slowly approached the bar to order a drink, takeing his drink . He
looked about the crowed room and set his eyes on the lovely blond woman who
was speaking to Dr.Hardgrove and her Husband. Tom grinned and slowly made
his way toward the small cluster of friends. Placeing his hand on the womans
exposed shoulder and spoke softly in her ear. "Hello Beautifull."

The Woman spun around and smiled. "Well hello handsome." she replied leaning
in to him and giveing him a passionate kiss. Tom wrapped his arm around her
loveingly and hugged her tight. "I love Kayanna." he said Kayanna sighed
a sigh of contentment and replied. "I love you to Tomas." while relaxing
in to his arms . "Tomas?" a voice asked. "I've always known this old man as
Tom or Admiral but never Tomas." Drayson Hardgrove asked. "One of the
privileges of being married" Kayanna laughed "I'm sure you understand."
Dr.Hardgrove can up close to her Husband and grabbed his waiting hand, "Oh
he does, he does Kay." She said as smiled adoringly at her husband.
There was a suddenn murmur over the crowd as a Red headed woman too the
podium at the far corner of the room. As she began to speak the crowd
turned to utter silence. "Good evening. We are gathered here to night to pay
or respects to a great man. A man who helped us to achieve peace in the
Alpha quadrant. A man who lead the Federation to the victory. Vice Admiral
Tom Garrison."

The crowd roared at the sound of his name . Garrison blushed slightly at
the sound and then tried to move out of sight as a large light was shined on
him. "Before we continue with tonights ceromonies, I was given a special
message that I promised would be delivered." Jennifer Hurst motioned to a
large veiw screen as it emerged from the floor and an Image appeared on it.

"Hello Tom" The image of Federation president Micheal Larkin said.
"Congrads on your retirement. Although I'm saddened to see you go.
Starfleets is suffering a great loss with your retirement. I'm sorry I'm
unable to attend your party personaly but I'm currently of world working
out some details on the Gorns Fedeartion charter. There are some who say
this presidency belongs to you. I tend to agree, but as you said your not a
polotiction. I hope you enjoy the years to folow and hope to hear from you
soon. God Spee my friend."

The image Changed to the image of Admiral Maxwell Summit, The older
Gentelman figited for a second and then begain to speak. "Tom, I'm sorry to
see you go. Command won't be the smae with out you. I promise to do my best
to lead StarFleet just as well as you have, but your leaveing some large
shoes to fill. I wish both you and Litera the best." With that Images
fadded and Jenifer Hurst took back the floor. "This is a sad ocasion
saying goodbye to The leader of the Fedeartion for all these years, but
also a joyous on as well. God Spee, Tom Garrison Good Spee." "Good Spee"
the crowd said in unison. The crowd then turned it's atention back to
Admiral Hurst. "So everyone let us please do our best to help Admiral
Garrison celebrate by not letting this party go watse." With that the
lights came up and the real party began.

Samantha was happy for Garrison, he deserved it more than anyone. She looked
around for Drayson who seemed to have disapeared, and for that matter, her son
Matthew. Although she had decided to give up command, she had taken on the role
of Chief Medical Officer and had kept the rank of Commander.

Although, she didn't want to admit it. She was the happiest she had ever been,
she had remarried Drayson. So she was now known as Samantha Hardgrove, or Dr
Hardgrove or Commander Hardgrove. Samantha took another sip of her drink and
looked round for Matthew. She found him in a corner talking to a young girl, she
couldn't believe how much he had grown. 13 years old. Although, he was still her
little boy and always would be. She felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist,
instinctively she knew who it was.

"Quit watching him, Sam."
"I am not watching him," Samantha said turning round to look at her husband.
"Just curious, he seems to be quit the ladies man."
"Just like his dad." She let that comment pass.
"Tom seems to be enjoying himself."
"It's not everyday you retire."
"No," she replied turning to watch Matthew again. Everything seemed to be going
well.
"Stop it, Sam."
"Sorry," she said again, this time looking at him.

Drayson took his wives hand and glided her to a seat at a small table
and sat watching the ongoing festivites. Tom garrison was getting
one hell of a send off. Things were sure going to be strange with out
Admrial Tom Garriosn stationed on 001. It had been almost 3 years
since Sam stepped down and took the CMO postion. Hardgrove had
stepped in as temporrray commander and some how ended becomming it's
permanant Commanding officer. His mind drifted to all the goings on
that needed his atention, all the little things he did that mad the
station run functionaly. He quickly shooke that feeling off He had on
hell of a command crew and in times of peace this little things were
just a little less critical as they were during the war.

Tom Garrison sat down at the table and smilled at the happy couple.
"Thank you, I realy needed this. It's one hell of a good bye."

"Your wellcome Tom, It's been a pleasure serveing under you, and just
for the hell of it I got you a little something as a gooing away
present. " Drayson smiled back at him. Hardgrove slipped his hand
under the table and removed a fairly large box.Placeing it on the
table top he slid it across to Tom and smriked.

Tom frowned, He hated surprises. He unwrapped the box and removed a
scale model of Starbase 001. Tom looked and grinned.

"Alittle reminder" Samantha chimed in. Tom Smiled whole
hartedly. "It's funny you shuld be giveing me a going away present.
Admiral Hurst has just taken the Triconderoga as the new flagg ship
and has informed me I have my choice of any Ship I please for my own
personal use. I took the Rembrant. She's small reliable and pretty
fast, Yet I decided to excerise My powers as Commandrer and Cheif and
freed up a Ship for 001 as well. The Gambit is yours once again
Captain. I've had her refit and brought back to standard."

Drayson grinned at his old friend and then simply nodded."Thank you
sir." was all he could muster. Garrison looked at the chronomiter
on the wall it read 2401 hours. "Not Sir Captain , Mr Garrison is
fine Haven't you heard I'm retired."

Subject: The Table

Rune Sith entered The Double Helix. It hadn't been too long since all
the fighting died down. But at least now the Alliance was defeated.

He felt different. He looked different... Sitting down at a table
near the exit, he rested his arms on its surface. The right,
perfectly human, the left, mechanical all the way to his upper ribs.
With a simple thought, skin replicated over his arm making it seem as
normal as his other. Another thought made the skin disappear,
revealing the mechanics. He covered it again and sighed.

*Click!?* Zeta climbed around his back to his shoulder.

Sith glanced over, noticing someone taking a seat in front of him.

"How's the new get-up?" Lieutenant Commander VoKaila smiled.
Sith rolled his eyes, "I didn't think I was going to see you here."
Although he was sarcastic, he really did feel better that she was on
the station. She had been such a good friend and soldier during the
war. If it wasn't for her, his life would have been over long before
now.

"I haven't seen you since my new posting. I heard about what happened
to you, but I didn't know how extensive you'd been transformed," she
said.

Sith shook his head, "I was treated without my consent. I never asked
for these... alterations."
VoKaila placed her hand on his warmly, "Well, you're still cute. So
lighten up, will you?"
Sith pulled his hand away. VoKaila had a way of making fun of a
serious moment. And did she just say he was cute? "Umm-- What did you-
--?"
"Oh get over it. Did you hear what ship I got transferred to? The
Vitality!"

Sith sat back shocked, "No way. I had no idea it was rebuilt."
"Yup. And guess who got Chief Tactical and Security? Me. --Admiral
Garrison put in a good word for me."
"Congratulations. So that explains why you're here," he shook his
head. "The Vitality. I'm glad they decided to continue her name. Ah,
but no ship will ever compare to her predecessor. She was a beauty."
"Since when did you admire a ship's look?" VoKaila asked.
"I enjoy starship architecture every once in a while."
VoKaila gave him a glare.
"Okay fine. I just wanted to say that," Sith finished. "But I really
do miss the old Vitality."
"Well, if you want I can give you a tour of the new one. She'll be
docking tomorrow to pick me up, and undergo a supply upgrade."
"That sounds like a good idea. I'd like that," Sith said.
VoKaila nodded, "Alright then. It's a date."

She got up and smiled.

"Umm, wait. I didn't say it was a--" Sith began--
"I'll see you tomorrow!" She quickly walked away, leaving Sith and
Zeta to that notion.

*Click...?*

Sith glanced over. "Yeah, tell me about it..."
